A delightful ambiance with a blazing log fire and a warm welcome awaited me at the prestigious Grosvenor House hotel.

Beautifully situated in one of the capital’s most enviable addresses in London’s Mayfair.I was unquestionably looking forward to staying in the hotel that is frequented by royalty, celebrities and business leaders since its opening in 1929. The historic Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel continues its time-honoured tradition for the exceptional style, service and facilities expected from a 5-star luxury hotel in London. Many amazing personalities including Orson Welles, Jacqueline Kennedy, Henry Kissinger and Ella Fitzgerald have been beneficiaries of the Grosvenor House tradition of manner and warmth.

I was fortunate enough to be staying in one of the 22 Park View Suites that the hotel prides itself in having. The view of Hyde Park was spectacular and when I first walked in I was totally stunned with the gorgeous rich muted colours in the furnishings and the contrasting neutral walls. There was also enough room for a further 9 guests to dine in the suite. Many original features of the period have been retained and marble bathrooms with an Art Deco influence. Many of the suites have connecting rooms absolutely ideal for families or for those of you looking to invite company then it is perfect for private parties too. With a further 52 suites and 420 luxurious rooms The Grosvenor House offers first class facilities and 24 hour room service right in the heart of London’s West End.

It was then time to explore this fabulous gem further; I was drawn to the famous Red Bar- Just the place for those of us that like to party, with a loud vibrant atmosphere on a Friday evening and a wonderful choice of cocktails. Or maybe you would prefer a slightly more sophisticated quieter drink in The Library bar or a glass of bubbly in the Park room. I was truly astounded to see so many people indulging in the afternoon tea; I am not surprised that it is award winning- A wonderful treat for a loved one. The Grosvenor House has for sure an unrivalled range of facilities.

I was intrigued to find out more about the vast facilities this hotel had to offer. The 7th floor where the complimentary executive lounge is situated is ideal for a few pre dinner drinks or a small bite to eat. There are refreshments on offer throughout the day and for me an ideal place for that early evening cocktail and canapés. All 74 suites benefit from access to this lounge.

The SanRizz Spa and a brilliant fitness centre with Star-Trac equipment and high speed internet make the Grosvenor House an ideal choice also for the business traveller.

Dinner at the JW Steakhouse was a totally ‘wow’ experience. Offering tender hand-cut selections of dry-aged American USDA prime beef, grilled to perfection; crisp salads, fresh seafood and mouth watering desserts such as the cheesecake which was simply ‘to die for’. The JW Steakhouse prides itself in the most generous portions they serve. Make sure you build up a big appetite before dining here! The Bourbon bar in the restaurant is a fantastic place to sample classic cocktails with a contemporary twist or dip into the boutique menu of small batch bourbons.

The Grosvenor House sits in a league of its own-Elegant, luxurious and walking distance from many of London’s famous landmarks. It is most definitely one of London’s most exquisite hotels.

A special thanks to Claire Gillespie-Luchford APM.
